What about if I miss my Key Stage Three Standard Assessment Tests (SATs)?

Providing your school is aware that you are too ill to be in school during the Standard Assessment Tests (SATs), your teacher will write up their assessment for you. If you are able to get into school to sit the SAT, extra support can be provided, such as sitting in a quiet room and having an extra time allowance. Make sure you plan ahead with your school if you think you are able to sit your KS3 SAT.

What about taking my GCSEs?

The different examination bodies who award GCSEs and A Levels are allowed to make special arrangements for you because of your M.E. Your school will have to make an application for these special arrangements, so it important you let then know as early as possible.

Special arrangements might include being able to sit in a quiet room, extra time allowance and being able to have drinks and snacks. This will prevent you having to wait in queues outside the examination room, having to sit in a large room with lots of other students and having to stick to allocated time. It is worth asking for these special arrangements, as it will help you perform to the best of your ability.
