Diagnosis

Diagnosis

M.E. is not easy to spot. There is no test that will show it, so your doctor will need to ask you questions.

The doctor will ask things like:

A doctor can also tell a lot from what you say. It can also help a doctor if you keep a simple diary of how you feel.

You may have to visit the doctor quite a few times. It can take weeks, so be patient!

You will have some simple tests, maybe in hospital, to rule out other illnesses. There is no need to be afraid of the tests, just be prepared to answer a lot of questions. The more help you can give the doctor, the quicker you will find out why you are feeling so bad.

For a doctor to diagnose M.E. it is like doing a jigsaw puzzle. They put the bits together piece by piece until they see the whole picture!

But it can take time!!
